Eli Lilly Completes AtaiBeckley Acquisition

Deal adds BPL-003, AtaiBeckley’s lead program for treatment-resistant depression.

Editor’s Take: Lilly continues to expand its pipeline through key acquisitions. Other acquisitions this year include Ajax Therapeutics, Centessa Pharmaceuticals and Ventyx Biosciences.

Eli Lilly and Company completed its previously announced acquisition of AtaiBeckley Inc., a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company developing rapid-acting neuroplastogens for mental health conditions.

The deal included BPL-003, AtaiBeckley’s lead investigational program for treatment-resistant depression.

“Treatment-resistant depression persists even after multiple treatment attempts, leaving millions of people still searching for relief,” said Carole Ho, Lilly executive vice president and president, Lilly Neuroscience. “AtaiBeckley’s neuroplastogens have the potential to open a new paradigm of treatment, with rapid-acting therapeutics designed to move away from chronic dosing. It’s the innovation this field needs, and we are committed to advancing them for patients who need more options.”
